3 Card Brag

3 Card Brag

Three card brag is a British card game that was invented back in the 16th century and it represents one of the nation’s most representative bluffing gambling card games. This game is similar to poker somehow and it represents a direct descendant of the Elizabethan game of Primero, which is also known to be one of the games from which poker derived. The difference is that the betting style and the hand rankings are different.

The three card brag game is very popular in India and Nepal. There the name of the game is Flush and teen Patti – the last represents a literally translated version of the Hindi 3 cards. This game is being played in different variations. The game is also popular in the UK and it is a very popular game that is being played by the British fairground showmen. So basically people are getting together at big fairs where they play the games and it could end up playing at some incredibly high stakes. You can try a game of 3 card brag at Betfred Brag.

The rules of 3 card brag are relatively simple. At the beginning everybody has to place antes and after that each of the player is going to receive 3 cards face down. There will be only one single betting round and the action is going to start from the player that is sitting left to the dealer. The players can either bet or fold their cards. A player must place a bet that is at least equal to the last bet that is being made.

This betting will go on until there are only 2 players left to place bets (all the other players have folded their cards), then any of them can double the previous bet and this way he is going to get the chance to <<see>> his opponent (at this point 2 hands must be reviled). And by taking into consideration the hand raking, the better hand is going to take the whole pot. In case both players have the same rank, the player that is going to lose is the one that is seeing.

Another interesting but somehow unusual custom of the 3 card brag game is the fact that the cards that are being played are very rarely shuffled. And unless a hand is going to be won with the help of a prial, the cards are just going to be placed at the bottom of the deck and the game will continue like that with absolutely no shuffling.
