Mobile Poker and Casino Games

One of the new developments in the world of online gambling is the introduction of software and apps for mobile smartphones like iPhones and Androids. There have been several different mobile betting games that have recently been created on a couple of different casino platforms. Of these, the most popular are poker and casino games.
There aren’t a lot of places to play mobile poker yet, mainly because of the laws governing online poker in the United States. These rules have been holding mobile poker back from becoming very popular. There are a couple of reasons that I believe this:
1) You can set up mobile poker rooms where you are only playing other mobile poker players. What this does is limit players to playing at one table at a time. If you away from your computer and have an hour to kill, it would be fun to play other players like this and not a seasoned pro who is rocking out 6 poker rooms at the same time.
2) Smartphones have only been around for about 5 years or so. In that time, we went from having cell phones that were primarily a phone to a mobile device that is primarily a miniature computer. The more time that passes, the more things we will be doing with this device. There are already 1000′s of apps for games that you cannot bet on; it really wouldn’t be difficult to play these same games for money.
The one possible downside that I see with playing on smartphones is the possibility of disconnecting from the game; but this isn’t any different than a player losing internet connection on the computer. You simply auto-fold their hands until the person can reconnect.

Mobile Casino Games
Like I said before, casino games are becoming very popular over the past year. Most of the good online casinos in Europe that are either using Microgaming or Playtech software already have a series of games that available to play. Here is how these two mobile casino software providers compare:
1) Number of Games:
Microgaming’s Spin 3 software has 20 mobile games available. This includes Blackjack, 3 Card Poker, Roulette, Baccarat, Jacks or Better and the rest are slots and specialty games like Scratch cards.
Playtech currently offers 16 mobile casino games. This includes Blackjack, European Roulette, Baccarat, Jacks or Better and the rest of the games are slot and specialty games like Keno.
2) Number of Mobile Casinos using software:
Microgaming clearly has the early advantage as the majority of good Microgaming casinos already offer a mobile version of their casino. You will be able to find many of these casinos in the AppStore or in the Android Market. You can find a full list of these at mobilegambling.net.
Playtech only has a couple of mobile casinos like Bet365 and Casino Tropez. These mobile games aren’t as simple to download and install, not that it is that much harder though. You will need to visit the mobile page on the casino’s website and download the mobile software from there.
Like the mobile poker, you won’t find many mobile casinos that allow bets from players in the United States. This is because mobile services are a luxury item that the legitimate online casinos pay a lot of money to develop. This is the same reason why online casinos in England, Europe and Canada have live dealer tables and tournaments with the various casino games. It doesn’t make casinos a lot of money like straight betting on blackjack for 12 hours will.
