Jay Heimowitz, while attending the army as a kid, earned about 10,000 dollars in poker. He knew straightaway where to invest them and did so in the famous Budweiser beer company. He labored for 12 hours per day for two years when he finally got his distributorship and way of living. He never left his first passion though – poker.
Born in Brethel near New York in 1937, perhaps he has felt the effects of Great Depression and values his money. Though exceptionally talented, he never took Poker professionally and is considered one of the best amateurs in business. As a matter of fact, no one can beat him in his specialty – Omaha Hold’ em even at 63.

He was a born star in Poker, winning in the initial competition he participated in; WSOP. That was 1975. He followed it up with 7 times in the money finishes in 10 years, making him an ultra consistent player. He has won 6 WSOP titles between 1975 and 2005. His healthy career earnings of 1.5 million dollars as an amateur and career profile is a subject of awe for many. He keeps a composed demeanor which makes him revered.
Rating
World Card Magazine has claimed him to be one of the two best amateur players in the world right now. The other being Lyle Berman
Way of life
He has lived life to the brim. He has taken risk, labored in his youth and enjoyed the fruits just as well. He is married to Carol and has 4 children and as many grandchildren. He enjoys his life, follows a healthy regimen and even does strenuous things like skiing. In between, he fulfills his poker aspirations taking part only in money games. That is perhaps one of the benefits of being an amateur poker player.
